I need textbooks

I was wondering if I was able to get as much content from certain textbooks. I am unable to afford to buy the text books for class right now.

Answer

The library has a large collection of Course Reserves which students can access. Students should visit the library website www.sdmesa.edu/library and use the OneSearch box to search for the title of their book.  Students can request a digital scan of 20% of the book during the semester. Or you can come into the library and check the items out for 4 hours and scan the chapters you need.

Here are our suggestions for financial assistance for textbooks:

  • Check with Financial Aid for Pell Grant funds which has funds available at the Bookstore to purchase textbooks
  • Complete the Basic Needs Application and meet with a counselor for money for textbooks https://www.sdmesa.sdccd.edu/student-support/the-stand-basic-needs/basic-needs-application.shtml
  • Borrow the library copies for up to 4 hours and scan sections they need. (A few chapters at a time or the machine will crash because the file is too large.)
  • Student Book Scanning Request – 20% max
